Where in NH? I have friends and family in the area, some of which are pretty knowledgable about cars and stuff.

Default 2000 audi a4 2.8 30v quattro

I painted my cold air intake and cleaned up my engine bay...

i have a question though...for some reason my car check engine light is on but when i let the car sit over night with batter disconnected the engine light goes off but it comes back on around 250 miles or so. Also my dome light eventually will stop coming on about same time as my check engine light comes on...but after i reset battery it will work perfect while i open door and close it. But eventually it will stop working like it should...could this be a short in my car? or any ideas? thanks for any suggestions if any

You should scan the car to pull codes to tell you whats wrong with it instead of disconnecting the battery to make it go away and then trying to guess what's wrong with it.

winnah winnah, chicken dinnah...

Go to AutoZone or some other big box store and have them scan for codes once the CEL comes back on. You would be surprised what you could learn.

yeah thats what ill do. It may just be a dirty sensor but how much would a replacement sensor cost and is it an easy job?

Well it will depend on the sensor, but I think they're both under $100. The primary is much easier to get to than the secondary, but if you have a set of crow's foot wrenches you should be able to do either one in under an hour.

hmm im going into town later today so ill have them scan it for me to see what they come back with...i spent all day getting a stubborn oil filter off my car. Had to get a "c" clamp and use foot to get it off! Anyway ill hopefully know what sensors (if any) need to be replaced and if its a relatively straight forward job
