What did you do to your B5 today?
Well in all honesty both of my cars are pretty easy to maintain - the A4 is a 30v which almost never has problems, although at the high miles it has, little stuff is going to happen more often. The 540i is a really solid car, well-cared-for through its life, and the only real costly repair job is timing chain guide replacement (about a grand in parts and a weekend of work, or 5k at a dealer - pretty sure you know which way that pendulum is gonna swing). Besides that, the 540 is pretty solid. It's known for some issues that hit all the E39 cars, like a less-than-phenomenal cooling system, valley pan gasket leak, and some VANOS seal issues. The chain guides give quite a bit of warning, and except a radiator failure, none of those other issues sideline the car. We'll see how it plays out but part of the saving grace on the 5 is that with the MSport package, it gets a lot of heavy-duty running gear and suspension from the M5, while taxing it a lot less due to only having 3/4 of the power. The other upside is that the car is loaded, has a ton of speed and handling, so I don't have much intention at all of modding the car, so I won't be dealing with failures due to mod compromises.
So far so good, and I'm pretty well-documented here for being proactive in my maintenance lol - that will definitely continue on both cars

So I went to the yard the other day.....I happen to find a matching trunk but not only a trunk....it is a Euro trunk so made me have to get it. Just hit 165K and is still running strong for this '98 AEB B5....I also have found a good hook up on LED lights from a friend at school.
