Haha I know right? I didn't think I was ever going to sell it either, but I needed a more reliable DD and I couldn't afford two cars. I was fixing something every weekend so I could get to work again on Monday. Plus my fiance can drive this, and we've been getting into camping. I was having to get rides to hunting camp because my car couldn't get to our camping spot

Quite the opposite of CCA4, I looked at another A4. A 2001.5 1.8TQM to be specific.

What for?

Were you able to pass smog on your setup? (I may have already answered that..I vaguely recall you posting about doing the ol switcheroo at smog time.)

Satisfied with the FT?

I'm trying to talk myself into going FT for now and waiting to do a 2871 until the rods are done.

Freshened up the suspension, replaced all 8 front control arms and c links. Installed S4 front struts, S4 front sway bar and H&R sport springs. Flushed brakes, blew up brake reservoir in the process of and wired fog lights to be turned on at will from fog light switch. Busy, dirty and tired.... definitely worth it. Will gut carpet tomorrow in search of water leak and to dry carpet/padding.

Removed the cruise control module and used a heat gun to re-melt the solder and sanded the ground in hopes my cruise control will work for the first time since buying the car

Sounds like you're on a roll.

You really don't need a stiffer front sway bar though. Our front bar is plenty stiff, increasing it will only introduce more understeer. Keep the stock front bar and throw in an S4 rear bar and you'll notice a big improvement going through the bends.

If you want a REALLY stiff front bar, I have one from a V8 A6. Same overall dimensions as the A4 bar except where ours are hollow, the A6 one is solid. I'm not sure why I saved it, but it sure is heavy.

That worked for me. It's a great feeling when CC works!

My 1998 A4 is FWD, and well, is pre-facelift with a tan interior. This 2001.5 A4 is Quattro (1.8TQM) with 106k miles (45k less than mine), obviously facelift (with stock xenon lights), nice black interior (except sagging fabric on doorcards and headliner), and did I mention it's quattro?

Also, I did just buy the 2001 A4! My wife is awesome considering she was willing to go through with this with me only 3 weeks into our marriage. The cost was $4100, and $4535 including all fees and taxes.

My FT setup didn't pass smog by the sniffer test, and definitely didn't pass the visual inspection.
I like FT, and may transfer it over to the 2001 A4 (but will need new tuning). The tune probably needs to be tweaked to run right (it's the original version of the tune) but it's pretty good as-is.

Fun on Friday
Yesterday I installed a new water temp sensor, aux fan thermostat switch down on the bottom of the radiator, new accessory belts and tensioners, fixed a water leak on a small hose that had a little balloon on it, new aux AC fan, plus added in a few bolts and fasteners that the guy who did the engine rebuild a couple of years ago managed to drop and not find. Nothing big, but it bugs me when I see a hole for a bolt and the bolt is AWOL. It's all good now. I love my Avant!
