Noticed this was cracked while changing my valve cover gasket today...

What are those two hard lines? What is the one with the crack and what is that piece? Could I pick it up at the dealership?

Thanks

Not sure what it is, but I know you could easily replace it with some form of hosing for dirt cheap. Just make sure that it doesn't kink and you get two new hose clamps to keep it tight.

Default secondary air pump output elbow

that is $40 at the dealer and you can get it cheaper on line, but that MUST be throwing a code like p0411. use hose clamps to secure. get the part number off of it because they can't easily find it in the catalog without the part number.

Just use a piece of heater hose. It'll work fine. Probably cost you all of 30 cents for it.

$40? **** that.

How hot does that tube get? Should I get a certain heat rating?

That's the tube between the SAI pump and the combi valve. Doesn't get hot from the air in it, but it does sit right above the turbo. Heater hose would work if you need to pass inspection or somethin but it wouldn't last very long. I'd tear all that **** out completely if you have the option.

pretty sure I have one in the garage, my work ordered one and ended up not needing it and the Audi dealer would not return it. Shoot me a PM or email at derzeck@me.com

It's part of the secondary air injection system. The SAI pump sucks in clean air, pumps it through the tube you took a picture of and into the combi valve on the back of the cylinder head. This supposedly improves emissions on cold starts. In some of the united states, it's illegal to remove this kind of stuff because of emissions inspections. Do you have emissions inspections in your province?
