tell the difference between injector pulse noise and lifter tapping?

trying to cure a loud engine tapping its in the top end

gets worse under minor acceleration and putting into gear and ideling

this is a tiptronic in neutral and park the tapping is hardly noticaable from inside the car

 

yeah i want to know the same thing but i have a 5 speed and i did the whole put a screw driver on what ever you think is making the noise and listened and my injetors are pretty loud soo i dont know if that is a reliable way to check

 

battling the same issue. After 4000 km on Liqui-Moly Syntetic (5W40) my noise was kind of dying off when the engine was really hot, but then, stupid me, decided to put 1 qt of Rislone + 3 qt of Castrol Syntec 5W40, it is now same as before, if not worse.
My assumption was clogged passages and Rislon is supposed to dissolve the crap. I am now 500 kms into this mixture, took a sample yesterday, from hot engine, the oil is almost like water and is getting brownish, I guess Rislone killed the viscosity, I am now going to flush it and put Castrol 0W30 Europian formula, which is Group 4 oil unlike Castrol Syntec 5W40 which is Group 3 (mineral base) oil.
Will see. If that doesn't help, I am going back to Lubro-Moly 5W40 syntetic again, at least it was not this much noisy.

Im pretty sure its not your injectors. They are audible but not super loud thats why they say to use the screwdriver trick to hear them pulsing. they also wouldnt get louder under acceleration.

 

get a stethoscope, that works amazing

 

Try seafoam in the oil for 75 miles, and then change the oil and filter. If you have oil clogging that should help it clear up and you'll have a chance to see whether it gets better (likely oil related) or stays the same (likely injector noise).

i acually allready tried this and it sounds worse did it through the intake and the gas tank aswell

 

lol might work someone feel like fire bombing it so i can collect insurance money?

actually considered trading it in but i think i would get negative equity for it since i still owe 5K on it 2 years left on the loan

i would break even with a private sale i think but a huge pain in the ***
