Where can I get cheap tool

Erm. Why aren't you just replacing that pulley? I can't imagine it would cost anything, it'll be a fraction of the cost of a tool to change the bearing. If you can get a bearing... I mean, I NEVER change those bearings, on any car, it's just a stamped steel pulley. Change the pulley, bye bye headache.

Actually, get it off the car and take a photo, I can tell you how to get it apart or if you can just replace it. I'm not familiar enough with the 1.8 to make a suggestion offhand. Generally speaking, The belt rides on a pulley, which the fan clutch is attached to. You should be able to remove the belt, Take off the fan, then the clutch, then the pulley.

Also, why are you wanting to replace that bearing? Is it making noise?

yeah you'll find a lot of VAG tools correspond to Hazet part numbers. If you're lucky enough to have a specialty tool shop nearby, I suggest getting to know them. If you're in the San Francisco Bay Area, the place I always end up getting my tools is this shop called Tool Mart. They seem to have everything I've ever needed.
