Who's Feelin Meat This Time??
Morph, will do. A trip to the yard almost always happens - no reason not to go this time too. I always like digging around there and I'm sure some of the other guys will need stuff too. If I can, I'll get down there this week and scout it to make sure there are parts cars worth the trip.
OK guys, let’s narrow a couple things down.* I’ll be at my house to meet anyone coming in from out of town by early afternoon – PM me or text me and let me know if that’s you and I can get you my address for your GPS and I’ll know how many we need to wait for before heading to the park.* Again, any of you guys have arrival times in mind?* I know a couple guys but that’s it.
*
First up – schedule.* We have the park starting Friday morning, and I mean we have THE PARK.* NY county parks don’t officially open until next weekend, but the guy who owns this park really liked how our meets went last year, and agreed to let us in this weekend even though they aren’t open.* He said there may be some long-term campers setting up but otherwise we have the whole place.* Clean up and clear out is Sunday by 10-11.* In between that is whatever anyone wants.* Typically we hit the junkyard on Saturday morning after stopping at a bar called Shenanigans for a brats and beer breakfast (yes, you can get a pint and a sausage sandwich for about 2 bucks and it’s excellent – nothing like a Yuengling at 8am).* Chris and I will be there by 8:10 or so – we need to leave the park early to drop his avant off at the exhaust shop for the long-awaited install of his catback exhaust, and we’ll head to the bar from there.* Then we can head to the yard.* Bring boots or sneakers for that – it’s rough gravel and no sandals allowed. *There are informal car shows both Friday night (Regal Cinema on Front St) and Saturday night (Vestal Town Square Mall).* Friday is typically JDM and Euro, and Saturday is everything from street rods to exotics to JDM/Euro/muscle.* Both are a good time and we can hit any of them that any of you guys want to hit.* Mild tech work usually happens in some form (last summer we bypassed the afterrun coolant pump on Emil’s S4, and other such work).* Not doing timing belts or CAs but if there’s something that needs to be done that isn’t a big deal, bring it and we’ll see what we can do – no one wants to spend hours wrenching when there’s great weather, food, and beer on hand.
*
Next up – groceries.* We do these things BYOB and there are plenty of places to get beer here in town.* We can make a run to Sam The Beer Man, about 7 minutes from my house (location location locationJ ), which is pretty much a Mecca of brew – you’ll find stuff in there you’ve never heard of before.* As for food and supplies:
*
Bill is making the arrangements to get a load of firewood for the weekend – he’ll be bringing it in on Friday, and is marinating a ton of chicken already.
I’ve picked up condiments, plates, paper towels, plastic silverware, and rolls, and Keith and I are bringing waffle irons and coffeepots (we have waffle mix too)
Tyler – I’m assuming hot dogs like last time (he works for a distributor), waiting on a confirmation for that
Emil – probably borscht and beets or some **** like that (
)
*
Everyone else, just throw down ideas on what you can pick up to bring to the park.* There are plenty of places to get the stuff once you arrive, no need to carry it from home.* Gonna need stuff for side dishes, snacks, coffee and filters, charcoal and lighter fluid, etc – the typical stuff.* Just post up and claim something and we’ll know where we stand.
*
Chris – deep fryer?* Keith has one as well and I think it’s coming but I’m not 100% sure yet.* I think he’s bringing his smoker as well – he was giving it a good cleaning last night.* Not sure if we’ll bring the gas grills or not since the charcoal grill is a four-foot-wide monster and more than capable of cooking everything we’d need.
*
So other than that, I think we’re set.* Please post up and claim something to bring so we don’t end up with half a ton of charcoal and nothing to cook on it.* Also, let me know when you’re planning on arriving and if you’re going to be coming to my house or directly to the park.* I’m not gonna post my address on here but I’ll PM it to you or text it to you if you send me a cell number.
*
Looking forward to seeing you *******.
