Pyro you think 6.5s would fit like that?

I was going to make a frame on the door structure, not the panel, and just modify the grill on the door panel.

I don't know if you plan on adding a sub but if you do, the stock speakers sound decent if you turn down the bass using the hidden EQ. Before I did that, the speakers were rattling the door panel and i was afraid I'd have to modify the cards but after turning the lower frequencies down, the sound stage popped right out and was so much better. I was very happy to not have to make my 6.5 inch Boston Acoustics Pro Series that I took out of my totaled Jetta to fit into that space. Or worse spend money to buy new smaller speakers. You could get away with smaller speakers if your sub were crossed over properly to compensate for the missing lower frequencies in your front stage. Just my 2 cents.

You might think that, but nothing you say can make me agree with you. Not only do they lack any sort of displacement capability, they are also using very low quality crossovers (as all stock systems do) and there are a LOT of details missing from some songs that I listen to.

Heh, thanks, but I'm not gonna jump into anything unless I can figure out how to easily modify the door panel with a bigger grill without having to mold fiberglass and without it looking too crappy.

I might just get some decent looking (for this job) mesh and just cut out a square area and fit the mesh. Probably would be easier to do without having it look like total crap.
