hmm not sure if u can actually replace that socket. U would have to replace the whole housing. let me ask you this question. When the bulb goes out do the high beams work and does the turn signal work?

Had the same problem. Tried everything to avoid a new headlight ($1600/Audi). New Light switch, ballast, bulbs, socket, wire testing etc. All a waste of time and money; so I bought a used headlight on eBay and the problem was solved. Turned out it was the ignitor (that's the part the sockets is wired to) within the headlight case, Can't be bought separately at Audi. Some guys sell them on the internet, but you would need to crack open the headlight case to get the old one out and the new one in. Not worth it. Buy a used headlight.

Ghughes3, For an 03 a6 with the V6 the drivers side ignitor is available, and for your car is part number 4Z7-941-471 and costs 614.80 retail and is 457.41 dollars website price. I realize that is still an expensive part and a used headlight would be the most economical way to go. Some useful info for you would be that the ignitor is different from left to right side lights, and the v8 A6's use a different part number on the ignitor, headlight part numbers are different as well but I don't know in what way they are different. I only see the part numbers. The 02-04 V6 A6 and 01-05 allroads share the same ignitor, so if you find a used headlight and ONLY want the ignitor you can widen your search by including allroads.

I ordered ballast from ebay for about $23 for 2005 a4 b6 with early vin# ***039212. For D1S low beams, H7 highs. All three bulbs are out ...haven't installed new ballast yet.

The dealer is going to charge you about $125.00 for the new bulb (that includes the ignitor) The other part to the xenon system is the ballast. The dealer wants about $650.00 for this part which is out of control. Of course this is the part that I had to replace.
