Default A4 is drinking steering fluid

Ok i have a 2002 1.8T B6. I am having to add sterring fluid quite often like every other week. Is this normal? I def. don't think so, but i have looked everywhere and havn't found any leaks unless its in the rack and pinion itself. There are not leaks coming form the reservoir itself. HELP

well i know its a leak cuz they don't drink fluid like that. I found the leak and of course its from the rack and pinion so the mechanic is going to see what he can do. He tells me that I may have to put an entire new on the car. Does anyone know what they generally run?

yea... you have to replace the rack and its very expensive from the dealer, and pretty expensive anywhere else

ok i have a leaking rack and pinion which i figured i just wouldn't face my worst fear. Some jack put regular steering fluid in it before i bought the car. I have a seal thats bad. VW said it would cost 1600 dollars to do with parts and labor. I'm getting a local mechanic to do it for around 300-400 including the part. I'm still avoiding the whole issue though and just keep adding fluid. Do those stop leak fluids work? I'm doubting it. I'm just praying for a miracle healing.
