Default Audi A4 white smoke and losing power

My 2002 audi a4 gives off a great amout of white smoke when accelerating. It doesn't do it all the time. In the past few months it's happened about 5 times (I don't drive very fast and only locally to work and back). I had the turbo hoses changed and it stopped smoking but then the other day I was driving about 40mph and I look in the mirror and see tons of smoke and the car had an extreme loss of power. It felt like the car didn't want to go. I am told I need to change the turbo but I want to know if it could be anything else.

sounds like coolant is finding its way thru a gasket and burning in the motor...

check the oil..if it seems milky, it probably means a head gasket has gone away.

I had the head gaskets checked and the mechanic said they're good. The oil wasn't milky either. Also my car hasn't over heated as of yet. Upon my research I'm thinking it's turbo or catalytic. Does anyone have an idea?

Will that cause me to lose power?

The mechanic said the codes point to turbo or catalytic.
