B6 Engine Management

B6 Engine Management
Ive tried searching around here, but to no avail. Wonder if anyone out there in the forums has went with a standalone type engine management system. So far, I have looked at a couple options, but wanted to see if anyone else has done something similar.
Option 1: AEM FIC - Priced about the same as your average ECU reflash. Works in tandem with factory ECU, and utilizes factory fuel/timing maps. Guessing negative is that this is mostly a piggyback unit (advance super AFC II)
Option 2: Haltech Standalone - Based on my limited research, still requires the use of factory ECU, and requires all custom tuning. Price point is higher, but I would guess this unit is more flexible than a piggyback type unit like the AEM.
Any thoughts? Experiences?

Well...... your logic is all flawed.
A stand alone is a direct replacement of the stock ECM and requires full tuning.
A piggyback.... which is also called a "chip" connects inline with the stock ECM and the engine and alters some stock values.
A flash, changes the stock software in the stock ECM.
A standalone system is a full race system...... and as ImtheDevil said.... way more than you would ever need

It all depends on what you're gonna do with your engine. If you're going to dump 10k into tuning your engine and you want 300+HP then yes go for the stand alone.
But if all you want is a bit more performance than stock and might go as far as better injectors and a K-04 turbo then just "chip" it.
