Can a bad catalytic converter cause..
Can a bad catalytic converter cause my car to turn off right after i crank the ignition?
When i crank my ignition my rpm's go up, then down.. then the car just shuts off, takes about 1-15 trys to actually get the car started when this happens. Could a bad cat be the problem? Because i know my right cat is bad.
If it helps i have a 3.0 quattro. And for the 3.0 owners what your avg miles per tank?

DanaB6, it sounds like you have another issue here. Have you scanned the car for codes? how long has it been since maintenance has been done? I would check primary 02 sensors, coilpacks, plugs, and the MAF sensor

Maintenance has been done recently, The car was scanned for codes the only code that show'd up was the bad Cat. We also checked all the temperatures and watched all the levels of the sensors ect. Nothing was abnormal...

re :magnaflow catalytic converter
My mechanic says the OEM exhaust, do you think a borla catalytic converter could be a bolt on install.
