Default Car won't start

So yesterday, I tried going to work, and the car wouldn't even start. It was driving and starting just fine the day before...I drive the car pretty much everyday, and no issues before this...it's so strange.

I try to turn it over, and it just makes some strange noise, the lights on the dash come up, and then just die. The speedometer flickers, and then just dies, and after you stop turning the key it continues to try to turn over. Pretty much one of the strangiest things I've seen on a car.

Almost positive it's not the battery. Lights work fine and so does the radio. Some have told me maybe the alternator? Any ideas people want to throw out sounds good to me, lol.

So I guess it was the battery...at least partially.

I jumped the car today and it started up. Still making a strange noise wehn I start it though. I'm currently charging the battery. It's only a year old, can't believe I need a new one already...

Yea, don't listen to "some people" . Alternators don't start cars. Alternators can't kill the battery if the car isn't running.

You need a good battery to start a car.

What killed you battery is another problem entirely

Yeah I'm not sure what's going on...I still believe it's a separate problem......but anyhow, I charged the battery a bit, and took it for a drive. Seems to start up well like it was this past week, and seems to have no issue. I guess I still need a new battery though...probably only a matter of time before this one dies again.

If the battery is only a year old it will probably be fine and hold a charge as soon as you figure out what is draining it. Good luck with that! I would probably take it to a good independent shop.
