CEL Flashed a few times then went out
I am a newbie. I have my 2003 A4 1.8T Cabrio for about 6 weeks. It is a certified pre-owned Audi.A few days ago after a very rainy damp night I got in my car and started to drive. I drove a few blocks and was moving along at about 25-30 miles per hour and the CEL started to flash. I may have just driven thru a puddle before the flashing started. I was on a back road and was trying to adjust the sound of the stereo ;-) It flashed for maybe 5 seconds. I was about to pull over when it went out. I've driven the car about 120 miles since then and the light has not flashed, nor come back on. I've read alot about the coils going bad. Although, I am now a bit paranoid, I don't want to panic. The service department at the dealership told me if the light is out that I shouldn't worry about it. I told them Ineed to drive the car out of state (from NJ to Rhode Island and back) a few weeks from now, but again was told that if the light is out it shouldn't be something to worry about.
I guess I have four questions:
1) Has anyone had the CEL flash for a short period (like I did) then go out and then never come on again, or not come on for months/years ?
2) Should I worry about it ?
3) Are the coils covered by the pre-certified warranty ? If so, do you think I can get the dealership to replace the coil(s) if there are codes stored that point to them ?
4) Where can I find a single coil or coil pack for sale on line and are they as easy to change as the other posts say ?
Foofie

Foofie... no your coilpacks arent bad, you wouldnt be able to keep driving it if one or some of them are bad. If you want to avoid one ever going bad, get hitachi E kit from ECS or keep some new OEM R types in your trunk

you are ok. Mine did that about 3k agao and I never looked back. Besides, you have a CPO and that should include trip interruption benefits and such. As long as you have a cell phone, you'll be taken care of if anything actually happens.
