Default Check Engine

I just travelled from San Diego to Apple Valley approx. 140 miles and when i started my car in the morning the check engine came out. I have a friend who has a diagnostic tool and codes P0340 & P0011 came out. I have scheduled to bring my car to a shop ion san diego where i live and im afraid the car might break down. can somebody explain to my what is wrong with my car and is it safe to drive 150miles with the check engine light on? thanks

One DTC is complaining about the cam position sensor, and the other is complaining about the cam phaser. Most likely the cam sensor is causing both DTCs. If the engine is running OK, you should be able to go another 140 miles witout damage, but keep a triple A card handy in case the ECM goes into limp mode.

thank you for your quick reply? ECM? Is this a major problem and how much will it cost me to have it fix? is it a quick fix or replacement?

The ECM (Engine control computer) does not usually go in trouble, but it will order the limp mode if it does not like what it is seeing from the various sensors.

Did you have your timing belt done recently...?

You need to check the timing on the engine before you look into replacing the sensor
