Angry clutch need to be changed??

hi fellas gave my brother a spin in my a4 and i think he nearly done the clutch in. It was not really good before but now its worse when i put my foot down in high gears it revs high and does not pick up speed (does not happen all the time) does this mean the clutch needs to be replaced immediately or will it be ok for another few weeks or so. Is this a big job or is it something i could tackle with my trusty haynes manual. its quattro too if that makes any difference

Had the same thing happen, took about 4 frustrated days for it to go from simple clutch replacement to $5000 transmission job with all new transmission housing. Sawed through almost 2 inches of steel transmission case when it grenaded.

Get it to a shop, on the back of a tow truck if need be. Under 50,000 miles, call AoA, they'll give you a free tow. Over 50k, tell em you got 45,000 on it best you can remember. Worst they can do is say no.

Yes its time for a new clutch. If you allow it to slip too much it can cause the pressure plate to crack causing damage to the transmission housing.

A clutch install is not all that hard. If you need anything we have both South Bend and Clutch Master clutch kits on sale all the time.

Mike (not to thread jack) but I was wondering, I am by no means "nice" to my clutch, and I was looking at upgrading at some point (soon, if I can sneak money around the boss lady). I was looking at going Southbend, and I was looking at this page:

http://shop.dthaus.com/product.sc?ca...5&productId=70

Which one is going to take the most abuse? I'm not talking about 50 5500RPM launches a day, just the occasional 2.5-3k drop to smoke the civic at the red light next to me. I am also looking to chip this summer, so it'll be laying decent power down (well, lol, I'm aiming for 250 ponies).

I'd probably be going with a new flywheel as well, so as a daily driver looking for more pep, what weight should I be looking at to maintain stability?

Stage 4 OFE with a SB 20 lbs flywheel. It will make the engine a little more responsive without any of the gear rattle noise most people complain about with the lwfw's.

You want to replace the pressure plate, disk and either resurface or replace the flywheel. Sorry we dont have any suppliers that sell clutch kits for the 1.9 TDI. Best thing would be to search for any Audi shops/suppliers in Ireland.

If it is a dual mass flywheel you will want to find a shop that has done them before.
