so i was driving and the clutch was fine no slipping but then out of nowhere the rpms started dancing and the car wouldnt go passed 40 mph. i tried to see if it would go any faster and when i got to 50 mph i heard a loud bang and the rpms just went down to idle and now the clutch pedal goes down really softly, sticks for a split second, then pops back up. i think its the clutch disc but could it be a hydrolic line or something? i gotta do the repairs myself so i wanna know what to get before i spend a lot of money on something i might not need. any help finding a repair manual for an 02 a4 1.8 quattro would be appreciated along with advice to my troubles. its got 136XXX miles and is really in mint condition other than the clutch issue. it blew two days after i bought the car from a private seller so idk im eager to hit the ground running and get it back on the road.

 

It sounds like your pressure plate is just about toast. Check out A4 Mods. He has a great write-up.

 

Yeah ^^^, just get an OEM kit or Mike2ptzero on the forums has good kits for the cars too.
