Default Cupholder stuck

2003 Audi a4 1.8t Quattro, my cupholder (the one above the radio) got stuck and wont come out, I suspect that i opened up partially inside the space that houses it. Anyone ever have this problem? Any suggestions on how to fix it? ive tried prying it open to no avail

Yea that will happen with our cars. Tends to become a big PIA. germans dont like cupholders for somereason. ONly way to get it out that i know of is removing radio and trim above radio. Probably ur spring has goo on it.

I second the "goo" theory! Normally is the problem. Some beverage gets spilled on it, turns sticky and gums up the mechanism.

Side note: German's don't like cupholders because, unlike this country, when they're in the car, they drive the car as opposed to eating, drinking, yakking on their stupid cell phone. In other words, they pay attention to the task at hand *that's why they can have an Autobohn and we can't). The driving instruction and tests are MUCH stricter over there. Doesn't sound like too bad of an idea does it? You know what I'm talking about!

same thing happened to mine. takes about 5 minutes to pry out. I barely use the thing because it's f'in HUGE and useless. Thats one of the worst things about this car, the cup holders or lack of them si just awful.
