Engine Vibration at Highway Speeds!?
I recently had my 1.8T engine chipped. Went with REVO due to the convenience of a local shop and I love it. Since I had the engine chipped, I have noticed an engine vibration on the highway. I am guessing that this problem may have been present before the chipping however was not noticable. Here are the details of my problem so far:
1) It is only noticable on the highway when I am accelerating from 90 kph (60 mph) and up.
2) There is no vibration in the steering; the vibration feels almost throughout the car but is definitely coming from the engine area.
3) Does not seem to effect the engine performance (no studdering).
4) It does not occur when I am cruising, coasting or braking.
5) It seems to be worse when I am in 6th gear and accerating at highway speeds when compared to 5th gear.
6) It does not occur with light acceleration (atleast not noticable).
I have done some searches on this forum, other forums and Google with little to go on. The closest I can guess might be a problem with the inner CV joints.
Any insight or help would be great.
