Default Help?! test pipe question

Alright so im new to this
but anyways..i got a stock (preety much) a4 1.8 and i ve been looking at the vmr test pipes.
they currently have two for my car; newer one with build in heat sheild 200 bucks and an older one without the heat sheild for 90 bucks.

so im looking to spend as little as possible, being a student and what not.
do you think its necessary to go with the newer heat sheild model or can i just run the old one?
if heat that that big of an issue, couldnt i just use that heat wrap stuff you see on pipes
what do you guys think?

or should i just not get that pipe at all?

From what I have been told the heat shield is more so it looks like a stock cat for when you get your inspection and that it doesn't do much to help with heat.

but def. get a TP IMO
