Howling noise
2004 audi a4 1.8t.
Anyone have a howling noise coming from under the car in the area of the rear passenger seat?
This noise don't fluctuate with the exhaust. There is a unit just under the plastic shroud in front of the rear wheel with a hose and another connection going to it this is the unit that seems to be making the noise.
Could this unit be related to emissions?
Any help would be great
Thanks Floyd

One typical noise that comes from rear passenger area is the fuel pump. I haven't heard anyone describe it as a howl so I can't tell you if this is your problem. If it makes the noise at startup then perhaps it is. The first step is to replace your fuel filter. When that gets clogged the pump struggles and dies quickly. Sometimes people just have to do teh filter and all is well.
