Why would you go back after they quoted you almost 4000 dollars? You go back and all of a sudden the whole transmission is bad and get a second quote of 7500 dollars?!?! I woulda peaced the hell outta there and started shopping around. It cracks me up, people get on here and bitch and moan about Audi, but the first thing they say is "d(S)tealership."

Thumbs down UPDATE: More Audi bs

So my car is jerking now...after taking with Audi NA and a rep named Heather, they have decided not to fix my problem after I told them I would not replace any more parts until they could find a solution.

It has nothing to do with it being a stealership - I already know their costs are bs - it has to do with the fact two mechanics and one Audi specialist told me to take it Rockville since they would code the transmission better - clearly not.

Furthermore, Audi quoted me another $1500 to replace the radiator, as they said that may cause the problem. Went to my honest mechanic who for $650 bought a brand new OEM radiator and it still didn't do anything. He's trying to fix the problem now.

Personally, I find it disheartening that a dealership can't fix its own cars. What the f&*@ is the point of going to the dealership then? I'll tell you.

What drives me nuts isn't the cost itself so much as the LACK of service. If I'm paying for you to kiss my feet I expect great service, not bs.

And that is exactly what I got from Audi NA and Audi of Rockville - complete bs.

All told I spent a total of ~ $7k on repairs, more when you consider the time and effort (too the car back three times, their QA is terrible at Audi of Rockville).

And yet, I will pursue one last alternative - discuss this with their ownership group - no customer should be treated this poorly.

an update to my prior post. After getting a second opinion from another dealer I went ahead and accepted their offer to instead of just replacing the mechatronic unit they replaced the entire tranny with a remanufactured one. I consulted with AudiUSA who also called the dealer and they confirmed that yes this was a deal I couldn't beat...so for $1037 (all inclusive) including replacing the exhaust brackets (they had to remove part of exhaust system to do the work). I was overall satisifed and believe this is one case where the best deal I got was from the dealer. Maybe they did this to win me over from the dealer I purchased the car from originally and who quoted me $3,700 before taxes to replace the mechatronic.

And that's why I have a standard transmission... My Mechatronics unit is between my ears lol...

Seriously though, sorry about your luck.. do some shopping around. Like many have said, there are some great shops and techs kicking around who will do the job right and try to cut you a fair prices. You just have to do some digging is all. the inflated prices that the dealership charges are for people who don't care to take the time to shop around.

I agree.. At this point you're just going back to bitch.... It takes more energy to hate something or someone than it does to just not give a ****. What you should have done was cut your losses early in the game and taken it to a shop with a good rep.

Yes it's Audi and yes they should have a higher standard blah blah blah but YOU should have clued in earlier and just left.

I used to work at an Audi dealership and their prices were fairly decent so I did have SOME work done there. When it comes to diagnostics and such the first thing I do is hook up my Vagcom (yes 400+ bucks to get it in your hands but it's already paid for itself TWICE in code reading and programming), get the codes and then research the issue HERE and on other forums to make sure I've narrowed the cause of the problem as much as I can, THEN AND ONLY THEN do I take it to the shop. At least this way I can give them a copy of the codes and tell them what I think it is. A good shop will listen to this and check the cause that I think it is before going on a wild goose chase, and nine times out of ten I'm right and the problem gets fixed faster. This means they get my car out sooner and another car in thereby making more money and I pay less in labor. It's a win win for all.

So, moral of the story is. Take the time to KNOW what you have in your driveway because if you're gonna bitch the way you have then you SHOULD educate yourself about your car so the next time you don't get taken and don't go on a huge rant. Not saying it's your fault, just saying you could have done it differently from the get go.

Techs have a saying...

"If it wasn't for stupid people, we would not be in business."
