Key fob wont open car

Key fob wont open car
A4 Cabriolet, B6, 52 reg.
The other day my fob stoped locking or unlocking the car, now i have to open with the key.
The central locking works from the buttons on the door once in the car and the lights blink when locking / unlocking.
I have had the fob checked for a signal and was told it is ok.
I tried to rematch the key to the car following the methods on the forum but no change.
Any other ideas of what could be causing the problem, Cheers.

ok try this go into your car
1: put key in ignition to on position, but do not start car.
2: press and hold lock button on key fob.
3: press and hold lock button on drivers door while holding lock on key fob for about 5 seconds.
4: release door lock button and then key fob.
5: repeat steps 2-4 with the unlock button on door and key fob.
6: remove key and try.
7: if it does not work, try the steps 1-6 again.
when i do it, it usually takes me 2 tries to get it to work..

I diagnosed my CLS issue (occasionally doesn't work) when I realized my driver door speakers weren't working. I wiggled the rubber boot between the door and pillar, and the speakers came on along with a working key fob. Lub your door latches, and wiggle the rubber boot. Worth a shot !
