Default LCD / Display replacement on Symphony II Radio

I have the Audi Symphony II with missing lines on the radio LCD / display. I also have an extra Symphony II, which is a little rough around the edges, but the display works perfectly fine. However, I was not given the code the unit when it was given to me.

Has anyone taken apart a Symphony II to replace the LCD / display? I would like to swap the displays in my two units.

Is going to the dealership or car stereo shop the only way to retrieve unlock codes?

Thanks in advance for any tips.

No, I haven't really heard of that, I'm sure someone somewhere tried it. The best way I know of to fix that is to find a good condition one and replace the whole radio.

Well, I solved the problem...

I went ahead just switch the displays between the two units. In fact, all I had to do was remove 2 screws on each side of the faceplate and swap the faceplates (which contained the LCD / display)

Anyhow, I hope this helps anyone out there someday ;-)

Guys,
I have the exact same problem. I got few thick lines on the Symphony display. I like to get it changed. Does anyone know where can I get a replacement display from?

Thanks!

If I were you, I would find a cheap used one. Even if the seller doesn't have the code and if the unit doesn't work, as long as the display works, you can swap it with yours. That's what I did. Maybe try www.car-part.com.

The swap is actually very easy. I did it in about 20 minutes.

Good luck!

Thanks jinsojoo....

I picked up a Symphony II unit from wrecked car. The unit is in excellent shape.

Do I have to pull out the entire unit off the dashboard to swap the displays? I would greatly appreciate any tips on it from your experience.
