Default Looking for daily driver

Hello guys,

I'm not a noob to car forums or German cars for that matter but a noob to the audi world. I own a BMW M coupe and I'm looking for a daily driver. Being that I live in the north east, I'm looking for AWD for the harsh winters. I'm going to look at a B6 3.0 on Saturday and I need some pointers on what to look for in terms or warning signs. I've read up on the sunroof leak issue, dash display failure, window regulator and sensor issues. What else should I be looking for? Here are the specs:

2003 3.0 / 122K miles

Any help is much appreciated.

Number one on your priority list should be whether or not the seller has the full maintenance records, or they can give you the name of the dealer where they had it serviced, so that you can have them print it out.

The timing belt job should have been done long ago on this vehicle, so if they can't prove that it's been done, then they need to reduce the price by $1500-2000. And if you did decide to purchase it with the original timing belt and tensioners, you would need to drive it to your dealer/mechanic immediately and have that job done before you do anything else. If the tensioners or belt go while you're driving, chances are that you'll bend the valves and then you're looking at a multiple thousand dollar repair job.

Other than that, it sounds like you did your homework. You could test drive it and see if the car makes any creaking or groaning noises as you turn the steering wheel at slow speeds. This would be an indication that one of more of the control arms in front is going bad and needs to be replaced sometime in the future.

I recently bought my wife an '03 Avant, and the car is fabulous. The 3.0L engine with the tiptronic engine is smooth and powerful. My wife absolutely loves it.

Good luck!

You're welcome. How did the one on Saturday look? Did you find out about the timing belt job?
