Lowering 2002 quattro 1.8t wagon
I just posted this in a suspension thread but thought it might get more views here.
I've recently decided that I want to lower my car on adjustable suspension. At the moment I've got 20x8.5 wheels. the tyres rub sometimes but only at higher speeds with weight in the back. Theres a carpet like lining above the wheels which it might just be rubbing on, I think its a protector for flying stones etc. I was told you could "roll the guards" and this might help, also because I want to get wider 9.5inch wheels in the near future. Could someone please tell me what the best way to go about this is? Also, an irritating shudder would occur when I reached speeds of over 70-80kmh. I got a mechanic to look at this and they couldn't find anything wrong, but as soon as I got the car back a feint squeeking noise would appear when going slow. as days rolled by it got worse and now when going slow enough and turning the wheel left, it turns into a clunking type noise. Any ideas?

SPC 81350 Audi B5, B6, B7, C5, and VW B5 Adjustable Front Control Arms!
*** GROUP BUY PRICING IS IN EFFECT --- SET OF 4 --- LIMITED AVAILABILITY ***
As many of you have found out, when lowering your suspension, camber and toe become misaligned which leads to expensive tire wear and poor handling. Since the OEM has made no provisions for lowering the vehicle, there is no adjustment that can be made to bring the wheels back into alignment on a lowered vehicle.
SPC has released this Set of 4 adjustable front upper control arms which will allow +/- 1.5 degrees Camber and/or Caster change for these vehicles. These arms directly replace factory fixed-length arms, allowing easy adjustments after installation. Engineered for both street and track use, forged 6061-T6 aluminum ends with large 18mm threaded adjuster links assure this is the strongest kit available. Maintenance free ball joints and bushings provide factory ride, handling, and NVH performance.

well as for the clunk i would think it might be your cv joints or axle. Have u noticed and black gunk near where the axles are. Might be a torn boot leaking. As for your rubbing you can remove the top screw in the fender and roll the fenders also. That stopped me from rubbing.
