Default questions about 2002 a4 1.8t awd

Hello. This is my first time looking at audi's and i test drove one at a lexus dealership a few days ago..
I found that the acceleration was pretty sluggish and it didnt respond like i thought it would. It was a pretty smooth ride but it felt like it lost its torque.

Its an automatic with 120,000 km

Are these common problems?
Are there other problems that would deter me from buying this car?
I was told that this car might be in "limp" mode, i dont know what that means, but how can that be fixed?

i own a 2000 civic atm so i dont know much about european cars and after reading through these forums i came to the conclusion that its a car you buy to fix lol. i really want it though. any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

You mean fortunately. If you want an Audi make sure you buy it in perfect working condition, our cars are expensive to maintain and really a headache sometimes but it pays off. OH, if you do make up your mind that you want an Audi, buy a quattro, not that CVT crap.

You know...... If you really want it, go back to the dealer. Tell him you will pick your own mechanic, have him do a thorough inspection and get the dealer to pay for all the repairs before you sign anything. If the dealer agrees to this, then maybe it's worth buying. Make sure you take the car to a shop that specializes in German cars, not just any old American car garage. They won;t know how the Audi's work and won't diagnose your problems properly.
