Default randomley losing power for a few sec. then normal???

i can be doing 100mph or milling along in traffic, but more frequently now, the car looses power (like the engine just drops to idle). it doesnt stall, i dont loose steering or brakes, and i comes right back to life, like nothing happened.

whadda ya think?

ive had a cel going on/off now for a month which is the front bank knock sensor. could that have any thing to do with it?

i know i gotta get it, but im lazy!

im not getting any new/stored codes except the knock.

1.8t 141,xxx

the car is new to me, but was always audi serviced from day one, as verified by the vw/audi tech website. from mile 111, to 136,xxx. abousolutely everything has been done. 11 friggin coil packs, with 2 new ones it the trunk!

any help is appreciated.

thanks.

the car is driven on the higher end of spirited!

If you've had a idling or engine speed controler related fault, such as the one you describe, you will need to replace it before trying to find it as being something else.

But just for the heck of it make sure that your pedal is connected underneath your kickpanel, make sure that the plug is all the way in.

I had the same symptom eventhough it wasent on a euro were the car on the highway would all the sudden lose power and slow all the way down to like 20 mph and after a little bit it would pick back up to normal.
After banging my head against the wall and testing EVERYTHING! It turned out to be a bad fuel pump.
I figured it out by having a fuel pressure gauge hooked up while driving on the highway.

Hooking up a gauge will be harder on your car since you dont have a test port but you could just T into your fuel line to hook up your gauge.

Just somthing to keep in mind

Really good point. Our cars are notorious for having fuel pump related problems. I wouldn't rule this out.

ill check that as well.

thank you.

do they make an electronic fuel pressure sensor? like tee it into the fuel line and have an led read out on a section of wire, instead of a section of fuel hose?
