Removing Steering Rack - Any How To's
My E-bahn is giving me fits so I can't get into my A4 service manual.
I need to R&R my steering rack. Found a B5 How to, is the B6 much different?
Anything to watch out for?
Passenger side seal is blown.
Thanks

Well for those wondering the instructions are the same for the B5 as the B6.
Honestly after doing the job nobody should pay a ton of money for this to get done. Its a very simple job and although 1 bolt under the rack is hard to get to its easier than changing brakes.
I'd rate it a 3 on a scale of 1-10.
One trick not in the B5 directions is to remove the large grommet from inside the car where the steering column attaches, makes it much easier to remove the banjo bolt.
There is a trick to getting the bottom bolt out, and back in. I'll take some pics and post it up tomorrow, that is the toughest part. I did this one a 3.0, on an 1.8 it should be way easier.
