Lightbulb Mystery Solved

I feel a bit stupid after all that I have tried to fix, but I think there is a good bit of info here.

I did remove one of the fuel injectors this morning (#1), and cleaned it a bit. The misfire then went to cylinder 2. 1 was ok now!

I finally found that the connector on cylinder 2 was a bit loose. The person who had this before me must have had a poor mechanic or done it themselves, but the little catch levers on each of the ignition coils has been broken off. Thus, the connections will push on, but will easily wiggle off. After pushing it firmly on, the car runs better than it did before!

Too bad I think my catalytic converter is now shot (rattles a bit) from all the non-firing cylinders! That stinks, but I guess it's not the worst to happen.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

the longer u have the audi the more you will realize the poor plastics they used in the engine bay. Heat over time we cause the plastic to become brittle and break. U should see my sisters coilpack plugs. The majority of them are completly gone. But zipties does the trick!

Two coil failures/year. Bullfeathers. I finally had to have the coilpacks replaced under the TSB last November at 192k miles and my daughter's 2003 A4 3.0 with 92k miles has never had them done. Those are two nine year old cars.
