Default replacing ECU

When replacing the ECU in your car what numbers on the ECU are you looking to compare?

Very last letter(s). All ecus can be swapped with the same engine code. If the numbers dont match, you either need a immo defeat and/or code from the org ecu. You can get more info from ross-tech.com.

pretty much all 2000 FWD 1.8t's can use any of the ECU's in it's class whch i think were like 3 differant ones except for the Q.correct?

Just as long as its from a ATC fwd you shouldnt have a problem.

yah bad part about it is that i dont have a vag-com. Just pulled the ECU and got it that way last leters are 018 C

Find someone that does but you may not need one. If you have both ecus, stick it in and find out.
