Default Sell car? How much?

I dont know where to begin with this car. repair after repair... I finaly need a new transmission. The car slightly shakes in low gear. but other than that it runs very well. I just want to get rid of this thing! How should i go about selling this car? I have nightmares about this car! so stressed out!

if anyone wants the car they not going to buy it with a bad transmission.. and dont be shady and tell them its okay just so you can sell it.

get it fixed then sell it. We need more info though to tell you how much its worth.

its a 2003 a4 1.8t auto. 82k miles sports package, bose sound. blah blah. to replace the tranny will be about 7-8k installed. i could borrow the money from my parents. and maybe sell the whole thing for maybe 12k or maybe a lil more? i would be happy to get rid of it for that... and to think... i originaly thought that by buying a nice car like an audi would kep me away from so many repairs..... never again.

I doubt you'd get $12K for it. I paid just under $11K for an '02 quattro with 62K miles in November of 2009 at a dealership. Yours is only half a year newer relative to when I bought mine and has 20K more miles. Is your car quattro or FWD? There seems to be a pretty significant price difference there, too, with quattros being worth more. Also, if it's FWD, it's the CVT trans, which is widely known to be failure-prone. The quattro trans is much more reliable.

I'd try getting some other quotes on the trans; if that's the price at the Audi dealership, I bet you can get it cheaper elsewhere. Couldn't hurt to try http://www.shokan.com to see if you can get the tranny there - they dismantle Audis, and so probably have several good used ones to sell. Obviously you'd still need to have it installed, but if you can get the part(s) cheaper, that'll at least make it less painful.

You could probably sell it for around $10k. And like olstyn said, dealer price for fixing your tranny will be expensive, try an indie shop that does audi.

kelly blue book for your car (with milage and all) says its between $9,100 and just under $11,000 depending on condition. maybe someone will be willing to pay more knowing you put in a new tranny, who knows.
