Time for a timing belt change
I've been told that while getting your timing belt changed you might as well get some other things changed out. What are those? and where can i get them? I am wanting to buy all the parts/belt online and take it to my mechanic that way i only have to pay for the labor. What do you guys recommend?

Do the timing belt, water pump, and the belts that will be taken off to be able to get to the timing belt. You can order a kit online which would include a timing belt and a waterpump with the necessary tensioners and gaskets. Good place is blauparts or rockauto and im sure theres other sites.
Thanks for the reply. I've been looking around and not sure which packages are right for me. I've seen kits go for $100-$350, so im confused on which one to get. So far ive come accross this kit from Blauparts
Audi A4 Timing Belt - Audi A4 Timing Belt Kit - 2002-05
and also these kits from ecstuning, but their selection confuses me.
OEM / Performance Parts for Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Mini, Porsche & Volkswagen - ECS Tuning
The price isn't really an issue for me, I'd rather have a belt that's not going to break on me for awhile. What would you recommend?

^^ what he said. I did the ecs on my car. They sent me everything, even the seals. Took a whole 5-6 hours doing it at snail's pace. the only thing I will tell you is: You will probably end up purging your AC system (it's damn nearly impossible to change the TB unless you are an Audi mechanic and slide the whole front forward) and you will need to clamp off your ATF lines to the cooler (otherwise your car will be stationary for a while because all the ATF will leak out.
while everything is apart, its not uncommon to do cam seals/plugs and valve cover gasket. certainly not necessary with that service but people usually knock all of the long term service issues out with one shot
Just unbolt the front carrier and let it hang forward. You do NOT need to remove the carrier.
Leave the trans / ac / and radiators hoses alone. it will rest on the nose mount and all the hoses will keep it from falling.
it will give you all the room you need to perform the job
