Tranny wont move gears...
Alright just now i started my car, put it into drive and then noticed on the speedometer there was no "red box" around the D symbol, so i ignore it thinking its something non-important...I start driving and the car won't get out of 1st gear, i try the triptronic mode and nothing happens it wont even move gears...I just attempted to re-start my car over and over hoping it would go away but no...It wont move gears in drive. Reverse and parking work, same with neutral...What could be the problem?
I have a 2003 a4 3.0

i just turned my car on to see if going 35mph would do anything, but it went into gear and worked fine, so i turned it on and off 10 times to see what would happen but it worked all 10 times. So now my tranny works? and a few minutes ago it did not..

If it was a cvt I would tell you that your tcm is dying, but since you have the quattro auto try removing the electrical connectors from the transmission and cleaning out the inside of them and also check to make sure that they are connecting tightly. If that doesn't work hopefully somebody else will chime in with some ideas.

The TCM is your transmission control module. On the evil cvt transmissions they are what fails first. If it fails and you don't fix it quick enough your transmission will be toast. If you need to get it rebuilt try bba remanufacturing. A google search will bring them up.
