vibration under car
When i accerlate to 1500 -2000 rpms, I here a rumbling/vibrating sound. I suspect its the transmission more than likely. I was wondering if anyone else had any other suggestions?
actually fellas.. i think this is more common woith Audi's than we thought. I took mine in to a domestic shop which ws my first mistake and they were as confused as I was. They Told me it definely was not the Cat, but they were hinting at my tranny. But I noticed that The vibration stops when I turn left sharply. So that didn't make sense to me.
So looking around the website, I found this...
13. Vibration issues. I'll make this very clear, vibrations can only be cause by a rotating componet. Example: Wheels, tires, brake rotors, or drive shafts. Replacing control arms for this is like pissing in the wind, you're not gonna get the result you want..
Your first step in diagnosing a vibration is to have the wheels spun on a balancer, if no problems can be found with the wheels, have the rotors measured for out of rounds. If either of these methods do not work put the car in the air, disable the ESP, and drive the vehicle up to about 60mph while someone else looks at all four wheels. If you see a specific wheel that is shaking more than normal, take that wheel off and install the spare tire and have the affected wheel replaced and or new tire. If two wheels are flopping out of control then you may have a propshaft problem (NOT LIKELY) Now if all FOUR wheels are wobbling and these are after market wheels, order hubcentric centering rings for all four wheels. Aftermarket wheels are drilled with a larger hub than stock audi wheels and need a spacer to fill in the gap to keep the wheel from wobbling.
I think this might be the issue. I suggest you both drive and do lots of turns at high speeds and listen. It made sense to me because I bought my car in june of last year rotated my tires in Dec and in january I started having the issue
good luck

Well Right now, I had just gotten my clutch and flywheel replace about 1000highway miles ago, when the vibrations started happening. Since it a stage 3 south bend clutch and stock flywheel, I dont know if I'm still in the break in period of the clutch.
For me the vibration I'm getting is only in 5th and 6th grear at around 2000rpm, I'm getting when load is the heaviest on the clutch, it mostly felt in the pedal and gear shifter. But I have heard the sticking CV joins can cause this vibration, but since it only in that RPM range instead of MPH range it seems unlikely. Just seeing if anyone experiencing the same as me.....
