Question What is the filter in the drivers side - rear wheel?

Hi all,

Just wondering - I'm in the process of fixing the drivers side rear inner fender well. It fell down due to the weight of snow. (happened to the other side last winter). Just wondering what the black box is and the thing that looks like a filter is under the wheel well liner??

Anyone??

Regards,

xster

I don't think its a filter. I think its an air box that has something to do with emissions. I may be wrong tho.

That might make sense - the Black piece looks like an airbox and then there is rubber hose that goes out and connects to a fairly good size (what looks like some sort of air filter). I was wondering if it should ever be changed since it is wet from the snow and bit weathered.

Thanks for the reply,

its most likely the evap canister , you do not need to change it and hope you wont have to. it has to do with your emissions. if ur car ever throws a code that says leak in the fuel evaporative system that would be the part to look at along with your vacuum lines and the purge valve
