Default 07 A4 2.0T wont start

Hello Everyone,

I could really use some help. I own an 07 A4 2.0T. I've had it sitting for about 8 months with a few times in between that I started it and drove it around the block. (long story why I haven't been driving it.) This last time I tried starting it and it was dead. I jumped it with another car and it started, but the traction control light was on. I turned it off after about 5 minutes running and it was dead again. I jumped it second time and this time left it running longer and the same thing. It wouldn't restart. The last time I tried jumping it it wouldn't even jump. Any ideas on what to do? I assume it is the battery. Does anyone have any steps on how to replace it? It is located in the back near again the firewall. I tried locating the retaining screw, but I couldn't see it. Also there is a third wire wraped in a plastic cover hooked into the side of it that runs along the back of the firewall. What is that wire for and how do I disconnect it? Also does anyone know why the traction control light went on?
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Definately the battery. You get some wierd lights sometimes after the car dies. The front of the battery near the engine will have the bolt that holds it down. It will require a long extension and I believe a Torx (Star) bit. Not sure on the size but it could be a tight fit if your socket is too fat. You will most likely have to reprogram your Key Fobs to synch with the car again after the swap. Do it yourself if you can as the dealer will rip you off. I will try to find they Key Fob reset procedure for you. That wire if I remember correctly may just be a vent that pulls rich off at the battery.

I had the same problem when my battery died. Just be careful, the dealer replaced my battery and followed the reset procedure for the fobs and stuff. It didn't work, it was so scrambled that they had to hook the car up to the computer and reprogram it. Had I had the battery somewhere else or done it myself, the dealer would have charged big bucks to reprogram it. Since they messed it up they fixed it.
