Air Cond Compressor Question....Electricial
I have a 2005 Audi A4 B7 model with 88k miles....The issue I am experiencing is that the Air Cond. compressor won't turn on from the switch panel when engaged. All the lights on the panel light up and the heater and distribution switches still work perfectly. When sitting at idle, the AC will not blow cold, but when in drive the AC will emit cold air with no issue. The mechanic today did as he put it "Old Time" test and took a wire and ran it to compressor and it engaged correctly. While the switch was engaged the air progressed to come out vents cold....as he told me, compressor was good but something within switch panel was bad. Can the switch within the panel be fixed or does the entire switch panel need to be replaced?

1st thing I would do is to have an AC tech put a set of gauges on the AC system to see if the pressures are correct. You may only be low on freon or you could have a leak that needs to be fixed. If you hot wire the compressor it will turn on but you need to measure the pressures in the system to determine if can function correctly. By the way what was the temperatures coming out of the ducts. Are you getting 35-45* out of the ducts? I would have this checked out before I start to pull the AC panel apart.
