b7 *** 39 MILES PER GALLON ON HIGHWAY
You read it right! 39mph. How did i do it? Drove 300 miles non stop at 55 mph. my b7 rocks! Tires now have 45k on them and ready for a new set. Tread is still okay but when you look closely at the tires they have lots of small cracks. pays to religiously rotate and balance.
I believe my audi can break into the 40+ mpg if i went 50 mph non stop but that gets too slow and unsafe during the day on the highway.
Finally gonna get the K&N. This was done with a STP filter which is 1/3 less thick than the phone book german filter...but for 12 bucks at autozone okay.
OBTW around town when i dont get into the accelerator 36 mpg is achievable for normal day to day. now getting 33 mpg to work and back is easy...thanks to all the folks who have given me tips on the last two years! AS long as i dont let the tachometer get up over 2k. Yes i ride like an old fart but when you fight for oil you drive slower ;-)
