Default brake squealing

I just took delivery of my '07 A4 yesterday after it got CPOed. I notice at slow slow speeds the brakes squeal. For example, backing out of the driveway or coming to a very slow stop in a neighborhood. Is this normal? Do the brakes just need time to get broken in?

Yeah, it's normal. Unfortunately, that's the indication that they are broken in!

yeah it's normal. i talked to the service rep for the dealer and he simply said that the brakes are made for performance, not sound. fair enough because the brakes perform like they're from an F1 vehicle.

I don't know. The car is in service right now being looked at. I think something is wrong with my brakes. I test drove another '07 A4 and the brakes did not squeal and were very touchy. I felt like I could stop on a dime. My brakes don't have that "touchy" feeling even though the dealership claims they replaced the pads during the CPO process.

It can take some time for the brakes to develop a squeal... I'm not sure what the factors affecting it are. Mine didn't squeal until a few hundred miles ago. Some people's squeal sooner, some later. But the brakes are definitely sensitive...

My brake pads are at 10 mm... These are not new pads, huh?

I have an 08,they squeel w/14,000 miles, causes a lot of brake dust also

I had a 04 Jetta GLI,brakes squeeled & also pads caused a lot of brake dust build up.

Installed new brake pads from tire rack.com,,,some Hawk ceramic performance pads,no more squeeling & minimal brake dust plus, they did not eat up the brake rotors like the stock ones do.

I noticed the rotors on my 08 ,,,the rotors are getting eaten up also,I think I will switch brakes pads to save my rotors & get much less brake dust buildup on the wheels.
