Quick update.. I was talking to an Audi mechanic there and he said the cam follower is covered under the CPO warranty, so don't even worry about it.

I think I'll do the PCV upgrade on my own, does anyonw know where I can find a DIY for that?

I'm starting to think that some of these people who say they have worn cam follwers must be using aftermarket fuel pumps with stiffer springs or something. There's so much BS out there.
I would like to see the pics of the old follower. What the technitions idea of looks good is. If the coating is starting to wear in the center or comletely, that is the first stage. Show us the damage.

90% of all the GTI guys with problems are on stock fuel pumps. Im sure aftermarket may accellerate wear some but stock guys are having huge problems too.

As far as the guy asling about replacing them, PCV is 10-15 minutes. Cam Follower is super esay as well as you can pull the fuel pump off without disconnecting the hoses and lift it out of the way. Another short job if the lines stay attached. Don't pay anyone for these simple jobs.

I'll post the pics soon. My cameras are crap and my buddy is pretty much a professional photographer. I'll give him the part tomorrow. The "anti friction" black coating is worn away. There appears to be no wear on the steel itself. I saw the DIY and I plan to do this myself from now on since it cost me $360 to have it done by the dealer.

I had the diverter valve changed to rev D too. The stock DV looks solid and not cheap at all. I wonder how some extra boost could mess it up.

^^The construction of the DV is good, but the diaphram can't handle more than 12 psi. If there was a way to beef up the diaphram in the stock DV it would be just fine up to 40 psi if you wanted.

Once the anti friction coating is gone that is when the trouble starts. It was caught just in time. The friction caused without it will wear down you cam lobe too short and also wear a big hole into the Cam Follower.

Change your follower at least every 30K miles if you plan to keep it. I cannot stress this enough. It is a simple job as well people.

After 23,000 miles I heard a whistle noise from the engine area. I thought it was a loose belt, but the Audi dealer found a fault in the crankcase vent valve and replaced the valve and hose under warranty.

Quick update. I just replaced my cam follower at 42k. It was a pretty easy job. I followed a DIY I found via google. The old one was beat up but not too bad. I'll post pics soon.

Question. Does it tend to wear faster if your car is chipped?

cool thread

My cam follower must have gone worse, as the specialty shop had me rush to the dealer to have it covered under warranty He said the pump (on the 06 2.0T s-line anyway) is much higher pressure than most pumps out there.

I'm glad to hear about the part going to need replacing again, as I would have assumed the replacement to be something stronger...will have to keep an eye on it.

I'm going to search, but if anyone care to post DIY on either/both the PCV and DV that'd be cool.

Your Fuel pump is the same as any other 2.0t Audi / VW car on the market. Nothing special about yours. Maybe higher than other cars on the market but not any different than ours.

Hope the warranty covers it, it should.
