cam follower problems.. 2006 audi a4
Hello I have a audi a4 2006 with 190K miles on it. And most recent problem i had was the p310b code that lit up. I had an aftermarket mechanic change literally everything it could be and the light would stay on. IN tank fuel pump, fuel filters and sensors, fuel pressure regulators, boost sensors etc. I finally asked him after reading AUDI forums to check the cam follower. Sure enough there was a big hole in it and the HPFP was trashed as well. SO he changed both. Check engine light is on still. He figured it was the intake camshaft.. A question
Is it worth getting the intake cam shaft replaced by him 1000 dollars? How much longer can this engine (2 liter turbo) last? Can it go to 300k? ANy advice?

Typically the cam lobe is worn and the camshaft has to be replaced as well.
As to whether it will last to 300k miles, who knows and depends on how much money you're willing to sink into it to get it there. Might be $2-3k; might be $10k. I'm not expecting to get that much out of mine. I'm hoping to get another 5 years and 50k miles out of mine and then dump it for something else.
