Hi all, I am a new Audi owner and new to this forum. I have a problem, wondering if anyone could help me out. Please forgive my ignorance on the matter.

I just purchased a used 2007 A4 S-Line 3.2L from a used dealership in Toronto, and while driving home, noticed some smoke coming from underneath my hood. I pulled over to open the hood and inspect the engine, and noticed a reddish-pink oil (presumably coolant) all over the engine. Upon closer inspection, at the very front of the engine, I noticed a small circular tube with the same colour liquid bubbling and exposed in a circular opening.

Does anyone know if there should be a cap or tube attached here? Is it possible that during the Audi inspection, someone missed reattaching a part? It is the long weekend here and everything is closed, so I am pretty much stuck.

Call the dealer. Looks like they screwed up. Not sure what is suppose to go there, but it should have a cap or hose running somewhere.

 

The coolant pipe runs on the front of the 3.2.... To me personally...... looks like the coolant temp sensor maybe, cause it looks like the plastic C clip that holds it in was installed in the bottom instead of the top and when pressure build up it just shot it out

 

That is exactly what the problem was. Whoever serviced the engine last forgot to put the retainer clip back on the coolant temperature monitor and when the pressure built up it just popped out.
