Cooling System\Coolant Help Needed
So I recently bought 1st audi, it's a 2008 A4 Quattro 2.0, when I first got the car home and looked under the hood I noticed that the coolant reservoir said g12 or maybe g13 I'm not 100% sure at moment, being resivor is clear I can see it currently has orange colored coolant, which I thought was correct until yesterday while trying to buy more only for store to recommend a pink colored mix rather than orange, the only orange they had they call universal. Correct me if I'm wrong but people at shop were right bout pink coolant being correct? I haven't had any overheat issues but I've noticed after temp gauge gets to middle it stays there unless I turn on heater, it blows hot air but shortly after being turned on the Temp goes back down, sometimes almost all the way to cold side, if I turn heat off for a few temp will rise to middle again, from wat I can tell it does it both parked idling as well as while driving. If the Orange coolant is wrong kind is it possible it's the reason for temp fluctuation or what else should I check? I know I need to top up coolant a lil bit but I want to make sure the right kind goes in so should I return orange"universal* mix store sold me an get the correct pink mix followed by flushing the orange out before adding pink or is it at all possible the orange stuff in car is right and can be topped up with universal mix?
Replaced the Thermostat & now car warms up much faster, the heater blows hot air now without moving the temp needle back towards the"Cold" side like it was before, tho it seems to be better I still don't think it's 100% right, I let car idle till it got warm enough to kick fans on & they turned on for long enough to cool antifreeze down some then shut up, I'd say they weren't on longer than 5 mins if that. Now around same time I turned the heater on & the fans don't kick on but I can hear the blowers for the vents or w/e that sound like theyre in firewall somewhere very loud, this happens both with Econ button pressed as well as without it pressed the difference being that without button pressed when I switch the heater on to almost any speed setting you can feel the engine begin to run very rough, it almost feels like it starts to shake or something like that tho it doesn't seem to be struggling to stay running. Also when I got on the freeway today I noticed when I got around 45-50+mph I could feel hot air blowing from driver's side vent as well as passenger side vent jus slightly lighter but not really from the 2 center vents above radio while system should have been off, the blowers weren't running & being I was on freeway I don't think radiator fans were going either so does anyone know what might cause these things to happen, or at least things I can check to rule out?
