Default Cyclical Startup Engine Squeek

Hi

I'm driving an 05 A4 B7 1.8T with 80,000km on the clock.
For the last while I've noticed that there is a cyclical squeek coming from the engine, particularly on startup, but of late, it appears to be there when the engine is fully warmed up. We had a pretty cold winter here in Ireland, and I thought once the temperature increased, this might go away, but I'm afraid it hasn't.
I spoke to the dealer and he said the timing belt won't need to be changed until 110,000km's and that it could be the alternator belt. Would this make sense with the high pitched squeek?

Still looks great though!
All the best
Dave

I have a similar squeak that usually fades as the engine warms up.

Subscribed for the responses.

i had a similar issue and it was the belt tensioner that was faulty so they replaced it along with the timing belt i believe. it affected nothing before and after but that startup cyclical sqeak was annoying.

both the serp belt tensioner and the timing belt (dayco brand) get noisy.

when it does it spray some brake cleaner on the serp belt.... if it goes away you needs a serp belt and tensioner.

If if doesn't...... its probably a Dayco timing belt. And its making noise.
