It happened to me twice today! All of a sudden the inside of my 05 a4 was filled with gas fumes! Any idea how this could happen? It lasted only a couple of minutes, then went away. I don't think it was an outside source, but I was using my air conditioning for the first time. Any way there could be a Connection?

 

I would suppose that you have a fuel leak in the engine compartment. When you started the AC, it pulls air from around the engine bay into you car via the vent system. I would turn off the ac and see if you get a fuel smell when you run the heat/cool fan just for fresh air circulation or heating purposes.
