The sensors are pretty expensive. Yes, they would have to remove the tire to install the sensor. They might be able to just break the tire bead and get it in that way.

well im getting some 19" rs6 wheels so surely there will be room for the old sensors. might sell the stock wheels (17") with the sensor then put some new ones on.
