Question for RVT: Have you gone ahead with the switch-over? I'm curious if all you had to do was re-program it via VAGCOM. Or was there anything else you had to do / buy?

I've got a line on a steering wheel -- but since I have to buy the air bag as well -- I'd love to know whether it will work before I drop the $$ on the parts.

Sorry, not yet. The wheel goes on this weekend, but I don't have the VAG software, so will have to stare at the paddles until I I find someone willing to switch them on. That means at least a few more weeks for me...
Again, because I'm going from three-spoke multifunction, to three-spoke multifunction with paddles, my swap is suppose to be a no-brainer! We shall see shortly ...

FAILURE....
Started the process, only to find that the airbags are not compatible.
The inside molding of the wheel I bought is very different from the stock one, so I have a few decisions to make.
Put the paddle wheel up for sale, or hunt down an airbag. grrrrr
