Ticking noise ???
I was at the red light when these ticks started. Appeared to be somewhere in front
of the passenger seat(between the glove box area and the audio player console).
The heater was running when the ticks started. Tried turning off the heater, the ticks
stopped. Turn it on again, appeared to came back. The time between ticks also varies
(some times close, some quite apart).
Almost like some coil, etc. is "expanding"/twitching on heat? Not completely sure it's
related to the heater though, need to watch it further.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Those are your flap motor actuators for the heating / air conditioning.
If the car is under warranty, there is a TSB to replace them all.
If not, i'd just get used to it. Cause they are about 250.00 each. plus labor and there is 4 or 5 of them.
They aren't broken, just make noise.

Thanks AudiTek. That makes sense, as the ticks are more pronounced
when the heater is started, kind of slow down later. And don't happen
much when the a/c runs.
The ticks are pretty loud and annoying though. Am at 43K, hope to get it fixed
before the warranty expires. I shudder to think what else will start going
wrong as the car gets older/out of warranty.

My best advice is to look into Audi Pure or Fidelity extended warranty services. Its like insurance you pay monthly with a deductable...
Its worth it weight, Cause all Euro lines are un godly expensive when it comes out of the owner's pocket

My car did the same exact thing, and I had my flap motors replaced under warrenty. Just be aware, by removing the dash, you might end up in the end with new rattle noises in the dash from something not getting reassembled correctly. That happened to me.
